Scope : GSO 8" Dobsonian
Eyepieces: Explore Scientific 68 degree 24mm, Pentax XW 10 mm, Baader Morpheus 6.5mm
Location: Pondicherry
Bortle Scale: 7/8
M 57 - The 24 mm didn’t reveal the ring structure but the 10 mm brought it out. However the view was not ideal. I have seen better views from the same location.
M27 - Fainter than I remember. Only the fuzziness was visible. The squished-in-the-middle- marshmallow shape was not seen
M31/M32 - Just the core visible on Andromeda. Some slant of the disc was discernible through averted vision. M32 seemed farther than usual from M31.
Coat hanger - Through 8*42 binocs all the stars in the asterism could be seen. It looked like an inverted hanger.
Saturn - It was absolutely breathtaking. I even put the 2.5 x barlow on the 6.5mm eye piece. But the best views were unbarlowed. It fully revealed the capabilities of the Baader Morpheus eyepiece. My neighbour’s daughter, a ten year old was grinning ear to ear after the view. Saw the moons Titan, Tethys, Dione, and Rhea too. The Cassini Gap was clear on the sides.
Tried some other objects (M71, NGC 7662, M 52) but they were no show. I think I saw M103 in Cassiopeia but it was underwhelming/unconfirmed.
