Regarding telescope usage

Hi @Uday, welcome to the club!

I believe you would have received the scope with 10mm and 20mm eyepieces. Can you share which eyepiece you are using? I suggest you to start with the 20 mm eyepiece first, which gives a lower magnification than the 10 mm eyepiece. Start by pointing it at a distant object during the day, such as a tree or a building(never point the telescope at the Sun), and try getting it into focus. Once you get the hang of focusing and locating objects, you can try observing objects at night.

If you’re still unable to get an image after trying the above, do share a few pictures of how the eyepiece and finder scope are fitted, along with the steps you’re following. We can try to help troubleshoot it here.

That said, the Celestron AstroMaster 70 has some limitations. We have a couple of discussions on the forum that might be useful for understanding telescope selection and what to expect from different models:

If possible, I’d suggest checking with the seller whether you can return or exchange it for a more suitable model. In fact, a good pair of binoculars would cost the same as this scope and you would have a more enjoyable experience.
