Outreach in Velammal Bodhi Campus, Pallikaranai and Ology Tech School, Mugalivakkam

We conducted outreach sessions at two schools this week, bringing a slice of the universe right into the classroom. We reached a total of about 70 students through both these schools.

We kicked things off with a hands-on activity to explore the true scale of our solar system, helping students visualize just how vast our cosmic neighborhood really is. From there, we moved on to telescope observations, where students got to witness planets, nebulae, and star clusters up close.

What stood out most was the curiosity in the room. The questions never stopped, ranging from “What happens if we fall into a black hole?” to “Are there aliens out there?” and everything in between. That sense of wonder is exactly what drives science forward.

Throughout the sessions, we paired every concept with simple, practical demonstrations, making astronomy not just something to learn, but something to experience.

Students also received astronomy posters and badges to take a piece of the cosmos home with them.
