@vijay, @linusnelson, and I set out on a two day outreach program on June 6 and 7.
We started off with a session on the basics of the sun, solar system, and eclipses to a group of around 80 kids at a government aided school in the outskirts of Karaikudi.
After this, we observed sunspots through our telescope.
On the second day, we interacted with around 35 kids and an equal number of passionate adults in Thiruvarur.
The kids were very curious and we had a rather long Q&A session here. Since we were able to stay till 8PM at the venue, we also managed to show the moon, Mars, and the binary star Mizar.
We had interactive activities at both the venues and the kids thoroughly enjoyed them. We hope to keep this a monthly thing and if you know any government or government-aided schools, please put us in touch with them.
