This is an amazing image Dinesh. I was looking at the light pollution map last week for dark areas around Chennai and the Thenpattinam / Paramankeni area was the prime candidate. Where did you stay when you were there? Was the milky way visible with the naked eye?

We went to the exact same sport and were looking westward to catch a glimpse of the green comet, but city lights washed out the entire west. Also, is the place safe?

Where is this place in paramankeni? I have been to the TTDC boat house there. Are there any accomodations there from where we can try out some astrophotography, i just bought a tripod and would like to try out some untracked wide field astrophotography, before deciding whether to go for a tracker mount. Please advise. Also is it possible to see the milkyway in mid-late july?

Hi, sorry for the late reply

We always come back in the morning, we don’t stay there

I think it’s safe since there is a village there
U can walk to some distance so that the lights won’t affect

Yes it is possible but try to go there when the skies are clear and near new moon

West is worse,
East to south east is best

Thanks for your response. Where exactly is this spot, do you mind sharing the coordinates on google map?
