Due to logistical reasons, we will be hosting our June month’s city meetup on 2026-07-04T10:00:00Z→2026-07-04T12:00:00Z. Dr. Sushant Raut will be giving a talk titled “The Multilingual Universe”.
Traditionally astronomers have relied on their eyes and optical telescopes to observe the universe. But we can get important information from the other parts of the electromagnetic spectrum, as well as completely different ‘messengers’ like cosmic rays, neutrinos, and gravitational waves. In this talk on multi-messenger astronomy, we will hear about exotic particles, the largest cameras, and the smallest vibrations which together give us a better understanding of the universe.

It was a great session, though I have read a lot about cosmic rays, neutrinos and gravitational waves, discussing it with a wide range of audience and the speaker gave me fresh perspectives. I especially liked how the speaker broke the nuances of neutrino and gravitational waves observatory setup, will have to study further on it.

I especially want to commend the format of the session. Dr. Raut’s delivery was wonderfully simple, candid, and easy to follow. In particular, the way the concept of interference was explained using a relatable example was a highlight for me; it made a complex topic feel intuitive and clear.
I truly enjoyed the session and look forward to participating in many more of your events in the future.
